New ESPL Rule

Postby Jurzy » Mon 8. Mar 2010, 18:55

Helo!

Acording to the new rule for ESPL Page 65 - ALL amplifier power terminals must be accessible during the measuring procedure...
there is a problem whit some cars, that have amps under the heavy box, and the box is taking all the space in the trunk.
So there is NO option, to be able to reach amp terminals...what to do?

Is it aloved for competitor to add two wires from the terminals to somewhere accessible space in the back?
Like two protected terminals on the box conected to the amp or something.
Or we measure that car voltage at the battery?

The main problem is, that this kind of boxes are fixed, in 90% thrue the car floor with some heavy duty bolts!
So the box can not be removed or raised up for voltage measurement.

In this case, is it necesery for competitor to change the instalation of amplifiers somewhere else?

So Alex sead, that it is ok, if there are some aditional terminals at accessible place for checking voltage during the spl measurement, and proven to be conected to the amp terminals with picture.
Otherwise, the amp terminals must be accessible with removable panel or somehow.

Hope that some competitors wont have a lot work to get this right.

Cheers!

Must the positive terminal wire be fused?

Hi Jure.
for me it does not make sense: we add a rule to measure voltage at the amplifier. if you let add an additional terminal (measurement-point) we have exactly the same like before introduction of this addendum: your measurement is NOT done at the amplifier. Pictures are nothing, a competitor could do easily make this extension wires, take pictures and afterwards change something you can not proofe anymore. Exactly for this reason this rule was introduced ...

... just my 2ct ...

Werner

P.S.: just did the hotel reservation for 3.-5. September, hope you will have an event at automotorshow ;-)

OK just to make that point clear,

if the competitor is not able to proof the correct voltage in a logical way EMMA underestimates automatically cheating and will disqualify the competitor. If the terminals are not direct accessable the competitor has to manage another waterproof solution for the judges. Example If the judge can see clearly the terminal and there would be a direct cable of fuse block to take the voltage it would be OK. So start working with Plexiglass :D

Hello guys!!

I have another question.
In the EMMA rulebook says:

Page 19

-The vehicle must be registered and approximate the “original” from C-pillar to the front and should look original. Cosmetic changes which highlight the installation are encouraged.
The installation of the Woofers & sub-box including ports, etc. must be in the trunk area and should not go higher then the top of the original backseats (not head rests!!!).
This must be proved by the competitor on request, for. E.g. by photo before / after, Amplifiers and other equipment may be installed in other areas then the before mentioned trunk area.

Than the page 65

8. In some EMMA ESPL categories it is requested that subwoofers including enclosures, ports, etc. must be installed in the trunk area (retractable rear seat must be locked in upright
position) and / or not higher then the top of the original rear seat with a maximum height nothigher than the top of the original rear seat (not headrests!), otherwise the car must compete
in the next higher category that is suitable to the installation of the car, e.g. Master or Expert category.

NO amplifiers mentioned in this rule!

I undestand, the box with subwoofers and ports MUST be in the trunk.
BUT the question is, IS IT ALOWED in Experienced to have all amplifiers out from the trunk, let say under the back seat, under the driver and passanger seat etc.??

If I understand that right, if the car looks original, this is alowed.

If there are no back seats and the car is very modified, than the car must go in Advanced.

Is this correct??

THANKS for the anwser!!!! :)

I can upload pictures of the car that we are not sure about if you want!

Jure,
currently I can only write, that your interpretation of the rulebook seems reasonable, and I would judge it in the same way like you.
Amps in ESPL Experienced below the seat are ok.

Hello Jure,

as far as i remember it is allowed to have the amps outside the trunk area. I will ask some specialists
